About Tank Trouble
Tank Trouble is a free maze combat game in which two or three tanks fight in a randomly generated labyrinth. Shots ricochet off the maze walls and remain live, so a badly aimed shell can travel the length of the map and destroy the player who fired it.
The bouncing shells are the whole game. Direct line-of-sight shots are rare in a tight maze, so most kills come from banking a shell off two or three walls into a corridor an opponent is about to enter. That also means every shot you fire is a hazard to yourself for several seconds afterwards, which makes firing blindly into a corridor a genuinely bad idea.
Power-ups spawn in the maze and change the maths — homing missiles, shotgun spreads, guided shells and shields all appear, and a well-timed grab can turn a losing position immediately. The mode most people play is local multiplayer on one keyboard, which is where the game's reputation comes from.
How to play Tank Trouble
Drive your tank through the maze and fire at your opponents. Shells bounce off walls and stay dangerous, including to you, so aim ricochets carefully. Collect power-ups that appear in the maze for special weapons. Destroy your opponents to score points.
Tips and strategy
- Never fire down a corridor you are standing in. Your own shell will come back.
- Bank shots off two walls into corridors rather than aiming directly — direct lines are rare and predictable.
- Keep moving after firing. A stationary tank is easy to hit with a ricochet.
- Contest power-up spawns even when you do not need one. Denying an opponent a homing missile is worth as much as taking it.
