Five Nights at Freddy's 2 is a free survival horror sequel that removes the security doors entirely. Instead you defend yourself with a Freddy mask, a flashlight and a music box that must be wound remotely, which makes the night a constant juggling act rather than a series of discrete decisions.
Removing the doors changes everything. With no way to block a corridor, your defence is deception — putting on the Freddy mask when an animatronic enters the office convinces most of them to leave. The exceptions are what make the game hard: one character ignores the mask entirely and must be driven back with the flashlight, and another is held off only by a music box you have to keep winding from the camera panel.
That music box is the game's central tension. It runs down continuously whether you are watching it or not, so every second spent dealing with something else is a second it unwinds. The nights become an exercise in triage: which threat can wait, and which cannot.
How to play Fnaf 2
Monitor the cameras and keep the music box wound to hold back one animatronic. Put on the Freddy mask when a character enters your office to make it leave. Use the flashlight on the hallway to drive back the one that ignores the mask. Survive from midnight to 6am.
Tips and strategy
- Wind the music box every time you open the monitor, even briefly. It unwinds continuously and running it down is unrecoverable.
- The mask does not work on everything. Learn which character needs the flashlight instead.
- Put the mask on before you check what is in the office rather than after — hesitating costs you the night.
- Flash the hallway in short bursts rather than holding the light on.
