About Bit Life
BitLife is a free life simulation game in which you are born as a random character and make a series of text-based choices that shape an entire life — school, career, relationships, health and money — one year at a time until your character dies.
The game is a branching decision tree with statistics underneath. Your character has health, happiness, smarts and looks, and every choice nudges those figures, which in turn decides which options are available later. A character with low smarts cannot become a doctor; one with low happiness may not survive the decade.
What makes it compelling is the range of outcomes rather than the depth of any single system. You can play a careful life of study and promotion, or gamble everything on crime and see how far it goes, and both produce a legible story. Deaths are frequent, runs are short, and starting again is the point.

- Study hard in the early years. Smarts gate most of the good careers and the effect compounds.
- Visit the doctor and exercise regularly — health decays quietly and a poor health stat ends runs early.
- Relationships need maintenance every year, not just when you want something from them.
- Crime paths pay well and end runs abruptly. Treat them as a separate playthrough rather than a mid-life pivot.
