About Among Us
Among Us is a free social deduction game set on a spaceship, where most players are Crewmates completing maintenance tasks and one or more are Impostors quietly killing them off. Crewmates win by finishing every task or voting out the Impostors; Impostors win by reducing the crew to their number without being caught.
The tasks are deliberately mundane — swiping a card, aligning an engine, downloading data — and their real purpose is to scatter the crew into isolated corners of the map where an Impostor can act. Every task you complete fills a shared progress bar, which means Impostors are under time pressure too: stall too long and the crew simply finishes the job and wins.
The game is decided in meetings. Anyone can report a body or call an emergency meeting, and the discussion that follows is where the actual play happens: accounting for who was where, whose task claims are plausible, and who is a little too eager to vote. Impostors have sabotage tools — cutting the lights, disabling comms, triggering a reactor meltdown — that force the crew to split up or drop everything, and used well these are far more effective than any individual kill.
How to play Among Us
Move your character around the ship and complete the tasks listed on the left of your screen if you are a Crewmate. If you are an Impostor, blend in by faking tasks, use vents to move quickly, and eliminate Crewmates when no one is watching. Report bodies or call emergency meetings to start a discussion, then vote for who you believe the Impostor is.
Tips and strategy
- As a Crewmate, do visual tasks like the medbay scan where others can see you — a confirmed alibi is worth more than a completed task.
- Track who leaves a room with you and who does not. Most Impostor kills happen seconds after a group splits up.
- As an Impostor, sabotage is stronger than killing. Cutting the lights forces the crew to move blind and creates the isolation you need.
- In meetings, state where you were and what you saw before accusing anyone. Players who lead with an accusation and no information get voted out first.
